Kansas City 2016 Energy Benchmarking Annual Report

Author/Author Organization:
City of Kansas City, Missouri

Here is the first annual report on the results of energy and water use benchmarking and reporting pursuant to the City's Energy Empowerment Ordinance enacted on June 4, 2015. This first annual report provides information regarding the various types of municipally-owned buildings and indicates how much energy and water use occurred in calendar year 2015. The collected data allows us to better understand the operating costs of our buildings and take steps to reduce those expenses. The City is the largest single customer of our investor-owned electrical utility, Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L). More than a third of this electricity is used to operate the 300+ buildings owned by the City.
